Firstly, please note that the Spanish are in the process of reclassifying many of their main roads; one of which is the N340, which is now known as the A7. However, many of the old N340 signs have still not been changed to read the A7, and so, as at the time of writing this (December 2006), you will need to look out for both the N340 and the A7 signs to find the apartment!

The toll road has now been reclassified as the AP7 (separate directions for using this road can be found in paragraph 3 below).

Basically, the urbanisation of Playa de la Lucera is on the main A7 (previously the N340) road which runs from Malaga to Cadiz, and so all you need to do to get to the apartment is keep on the A7 heading in the direction of Cadiz, keeping the coastline to your left, until just before you reach the town of Calahonda.

However, the trip is not quite that simple, so more detailed instructions from the airport to the apartment can be found in paragraph 2 below.

(1) Malaga Airport - Disruption

Secondly, please also note that, for the next couple of years, extensive works are being carried out at Malaga airport, and so some of the airport/car park roads may be closed on the date that you fly in.

Please therefore make sure that you follow the signs out of the airport INITIALLY towards Malaga, but you need to turn off the Malaga road as soon as you see the signs for A7/N340/Cadiz/Torremolinos (less than a kilometre).

Don’t forget, you drive on the right hand side of the road in Spain! Some hints and tips on driving in Spain can be found by clicking on this link.

(2) Detailed directions to the apartment

As you drive out of Malaga airport, follow the signs for the A7 to Cadiz (previously the N340). Also signposted initially to the E15 and Malaga.

After a very short distance, at the roundabout, keep following the signs for the A7 (or N340) Cadiz (still also signposted Malaga, also Torremolinos).

After approx. 0.4 km, keep in the right hand lane, following the signs for A7 (or N340) Torremolinos, Cadiz.

After a further 0.4 km approx., merge onto the main road.

After a further 1.6 km, stay in the right hand lane and follow the BLUE signs for “Algeciras, Benalmadena E15, AP7 (the AP7 is the toll road), A7”. (The signs for Cadiz seem to momentarily disappear here!)

After a further 0.6 km, merge onto the main road – the A7 / AP7 – in the direction of Cadiz (also signposted Algeciras, Fuengirola). Stay on this road for a further 15 km approx.

Then, keep in the right hand lane to stay on the A7 (signposted Fuengirola, Algeciras.

Then, a further 1.4 km, keep in the left hand lane – (still signposted Fuengirola, Algerciras) – BLUE sign.

Stay on this road for a further 16.5 km approx.

Then, on the right hand side of the road, you will pass by a complex called “Miraflores”, then a “Cepsa” petrol station (see photo on the left), then the “Calypso” complex.

The Cepsa petrol station is immediately opposite the entrance to Playa de la Lucera. Ignore the first turning after the Cepsa filling station (this leads to the El Zoco shopping area). You need to take the second next turning off to the right (approximately 0.5 km) to do a loop back onto the A7/N340 heading back towards Malaga to get into the entrance.

As  you  take  this  turn  off  to  the  right  (signposted  Calahonda; also Malaga, Algeciras), you will see a business sign in front of you: “Sito de Calahonda”.

Follow the road around to the roundabout, and take the 1st exit (signposted A7/N340 Fuengirola and Malaga). This is quite a narrow, slightly uphill little bit of road winding around, and which is two-way traffic.

Turn onto the A7/N340 in this direction and head back for approximately 0.5 km to the entrance to Playa de la Lucera.

Slow down and keep on the inside (right hand) lane (Spanish drivers are very impatient, so take care here), and look out again for the “Calypso” complex and the “Cepsa” petrol station (now on your left)  – you will drive under a footbridge and you will immediately see a bus stop on the right hand side.

Drive into this bus stop (see photo on the right).

Entrance Entrance

The entrance to Playa de la Lucera is at the end of the bus stop (see photo on the left).

The lock for the entrance gate is in a little box on your left (use the “Ezmar” key).

Apartment B51 can be found along the driveway a hundred yards or so.

The parking space for B51 is within the end parking block (near the bin store).

We will of course be meeting you on your arrival, and handing all the keys to you then, and so on your arrival you will need to contact us to gain access to the complex.

(3) Alternative Directions using the AP7 Toll Road

An alternative route to the N340 (hereinafter referred to as the A7) to our apartment would be via the A7 (hereinafter referred to as the AP7) toll road which you can pick up once you are on the A7. Please note, you will be charged approximately two to five euros, depending on the time of year, when coming off the toll road at Calahonda – this can be paid using cash (euros) or a credit card (Visa/Mastercard). I am giving you these directions mainly in case you take this road by mistake, as the other route is easier.

The initial directions are the same:

As you drive out of Malaga airport, follow the signs for the A7 to Cadiz (also signposted initially to the E15 and Malaga).

After a short distance, at the roundabout, keep following the signs for the A7 Cadiz (still also signposted Malaga, also Torremolinos).

After 0.4 km, keep in the right hand lane, following the signs for A7 Torremolinos, Cadiz.

After a further 0.8 km, merge onto the main road.

After a further 1.6 km, stay in the right hand lane and follow the signs for “Algeciras, Benalmadena E15, A7, AP7”.

After a further 0.6 km, merge onto the main road – the A7 – in the direction of Cadiz (also signposted Algeciras, Fuengirola).

And the directions are then:

After a further 14 km, keep in the left hand lane signposted E15, AP7 – Marbella, Algeciras, and keep on the AP7 for approximately 14 km.

Take the first turnoff from the AP7 (signposted “Calahonda”) and follow the slip road around to the toll booths (approximately 0.5 km), where you should pay your toll.

Follow the road around for a few hundred yards or so, and at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit (signposted A7/N340 Fuengirola and Malaga). Turn onto the A7 in this direction and head back towards Malaga for approximately 0.5 km to the entrance to Playa de la Lucera. Slow down and keep on the inside (right hand) lane (Spanish drivers are very impatient, so take care here), and look out for the “Calypso” complex and the “Cepsa” petrol station (on your lefthand side) you will go under a footbridge and you will immediately see a bus stop on the right hand side. Drive into this bus stop, and the entrance to Playa de la Lucera is at the end of the bus stop.
